“Reframing the role and impact of pharmacy in chronic disease care”
Attendance an online digital event on Oct. 23, 2024 entitled “Reframing the role and impact of pharmacy in chronic disease care”. The event was offered by International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).
Description: A global health concern are chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which include diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and chronic respiratory conditions. The WHO estimates that NCDs cause 41 million deaths annually, or 74% of all deaths worldwide. Reducing underlying risk factors is essential for both managing and preventing chronic diseases. In addition to identifying individuals at risk and promoting rapid identification and referral to primary care collaborators for screening, diagnosis, as well as intervention, community pharmacists and their teams are in a prime position to boost public knowledge of chronic diseases. The "Chronic Disease Service Framework," which will assist pharmacists in offering a variety of NCD pharmacy services, was presented at this event.
